Obama’s First Presser

President elect Obama held his first press conference today. It was interesting after months of campaigning and debating to see Obama in this format for the first time. Backed by Chief of Staff designate Rahm Emanuel, Vice President elect Biden and a phalanx of economic advisors, Obama met the press after meeting with the group on the state of the American economy. He seemed a bit stiff at first but eventually warmed up after a statement and then started taking questions, answering queries about the economy, foreign policy and his family dog. His attempts at humor made news. We should probably just say that he could use a comedic advisor. One thing that won’t be noticed or make the news was his answer to the intelligence question. Asked if anything in his security briefings gave him pause, he responded with “I’ll pass” It was a brilliant response with a perfect poker face. Very presidential. Not many other details except that he is going to push for a stimulus package which he would like “sooner than later”, stating that if it wasn’t passed by the current lame duck, it would be the first thing to tackle come January 20th. All in all, a good first press conference for our new president elect.
